What it is like to live here

Green Hills is a neighborhood inside Nashville, not a separate city. Its commercial center is The Mall at Green Hills on Abbott Martin Road, anchored by Nordstrom, Dillard's, and Macy's. Shops, restaurants, and offices line Hillsboro Pike nearby.

The Bluebird Cafe, the songwriter venue that opened in 1982, is on Hillsboro Pike. Hillsboro Village sits just north across Interstate 440.

Streets and setting

Hillsboro Pike is the main north and south road, and Interstate 440 runs along the northern edge. Many of the original homes are brick ranches on generous lots, and many of those lots now hold newer homes, so a 1950s ranch can sit beside a recent build on the same street.

Radnor Lake State Natural Area lies to the south: 1,367 acres around an 85 acre lake, with trails reserved for hiking, photography, and wildlife watching. Lipscomb University sits on Granny White Pike to the east.

Schools

Metro Nashville Public Schools serves Green Hills. School zoning is set by address, so confirm it with the district for any specific home.

Independent schools in or near Green Hills include Harpeth Hall on Hobbs Road, Lipscomb Academy on Granny White Pike, and Ensworth. Each runs its own admissions.
